Troy Community Foundation awards $7,500 to local organizations – The Oakland Press


The Troy Community Foundation recently awarded grants to 12 local organizations.

“We are pleased to announce our Fall 2021 grants totaling $7,500 to organizations serving Troy. It is our privilege to fund these incredible programs, and we look forward to sharing the local impact these projects will have on the quality of life for residents of the City of Troy,” said Karen Greenwood, Board Chair. of the Troy Community Foundation. The following organizations received grants:

• Oakland County Arc

• Trojan Boys and Girls Club

• Community Housing Network

• Team FIRST FRC Team 226 Robotics

• Youth MI Volunteering Alliance

• Remarkable Youth Ensemble

• Oakland Literacy Council

• Trojan Community Coalition

• Troy people involved

• Historical Society of Troy

• Trojan Nature Society

• Public Library of Troy

Grants will be used for projects including an adapted fitness program for people of all abilities, a music experience program for young people with special needs, a summer camp for at-risk children in Troy and small free libraries throughout the city.

Troy and Athens High School‘s FIRST FRC Team 226 robotics team, the Hammerheads, received a $1,000 grant that will be used to purchase STEAM program supplies.

“We would like to thank the Troy Community Foundation for providing our robotics team with a $1,000 grant. We will use this money for the betterment of future societies by purchasing STEAM kits for K-8 students around the Troy community. We hope to pass the knowledge on to younger generations through in-person demonstrations via the activities we now have access to! said Tanisha Panchal, Commercial Vice President, FRC 226 Hammerheads.

The Troy Community Foundation has opened the application period for the Spring 2022 grant cycle. Grants are available in four areas: Youth and Seniors, Arts and Culture, Beautification, and Health and Recreation. Applications must be submitted by March 31 to
