QB-WR combo leads a big week for WVU commits

It’s time for our weekly commit tracking update … and Nicco Marchiol is back to his old tricks. Before flying to Morgantown to watch Saturday’s game in person, Marchiol completed 13 of 19 passes for 194 yards and four touchdowns. He also scored a point and missed most of the second half in a 42-7 victory.

One of its future targets had an equally dominant performance. Committed wide receiver Jarel Williams caught 11 passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns in a win over their region’s No.1 team on Friday night. He was instrumental in winning touchdowns and sealing the game, including catching the final touchdown in the 28-16 victory. In his last four games against 6A competition (the same ranking as his own school, minus the 9/17 game when stats weren’t available), Williams has 33 catches for 503 yards and seven touchdowns.

On the defensive end of the ball, forwards Aric Burton and Zion Young continued to dominate. Burton had four tackles, a tackle for loss and a sack in a 42-7 win. Young’s stats are a week behind (they’re usually released on Tuesday, the day after these updates), so he had eight tackles, but in the game there were two Fridays.

Check out highlights, stats and more for each player below. Then check back next week for more updates.
