Mushatt promoted to Deputy Chief of St. Cloud Police


ST. CLOUD (WJON News) – With the announcement of the Deputy Chief Jeff Oxton become St. Cloud’s new police chiefMayor of Saint Cloud Dave Kleis appointed a new deputy chief.

Kleis announced on Thursday the commander Brett Mushatt will be promoted to Deputy Chief later this year.

Mushatt is a native of St. Cloud and a graduate of Tech High School. He joined the St. Cloud Police Department in 2002 as a Patrol Officer and rose through the ranks including Sergeant, Lieutenant and Operations Commander.

Kleis says Mushatt has been instrumental in implementing the St. Cloud Police Department’s wellness initiatives and is a strong advocate for youth programs and community engagement.

We are thrilled that the new Chief and Deputy Chief both grew up in St. Cloud, graduated from Apollo and Tech High Schools, are St. Cloud State alumni, and both have gone on to serve their local community as members of the St. Cloud Police Department.

The new positions at Oxton and Mushatt will become official on Nov. 30, when Chief Blair Anderson officially retires.
