Laura “Bea” Workman Dinkins, widow of Ollie Dinkins Sr., was born November 25, 1933 in Rembert, daughter of the late Jessie Sr. and the late Lucille Dinkins Workman. On Saturday January 8, 2022, she was called from work to reward at the age of 88.

Laura attended Sumter County Public Schools where she excelled in the sport of basketball. She then continued her studies at the Sumter County Career Center, where she obtained her certificate in cooking and culinary arts. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Rafting Creek Baptist Church. There she worked in several ministries: missionary society, pastoral care, cooking ministries and Sunday school. Laura was united in a holy marriage to the love of her life, Ollie Dinkins, on August 7, 1951. God blessed this union to flourish for over 54 years. She was employed at the Shaw Air Force Base Officers’ Club, where she worked diligently as a cook until her retirement.

She lets cherish her precious memories: a beloved son, Ollie Dinkins Jr.; eight daughters, Linnie M. Singleton, Genovia (Jimmie) Dennis III, Gloria Dinkins, Jacqueline Dinkins, Kathy D. English, Tracey (Roosevelt) Nelson Jr., Ethel Dinkins and Jduna Dinkins; three children she raised as her own, Patricia Nickleson, Debra Moody and Lane Robinson; five grandchildren she raised, Enrico Dinkins, Desiree D. McMillan, Lavina D. Smith, Charmeka D. Gibson and Michael Dais; one brother, Dorsey (Eva) Workman; two sisters-in-law, Brenda (George) Waters and Ann Workman; a brother-in-law, the Reverend Freddie Davis; one daughter-in-law, Mary G. Sanders; 29 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one godson, Reno Jordan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins ​​and friends.

In accordance with COVID-19 guidelines, the family requests that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visits to the home, 4620 Easy St., Rembert.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Catchall Masonic Lodge 425, 3280 Peach Orchard Road (SC 441), Dalzell, with Rev. Melvin Mack, pastor of Rafting Creek Baptist Church, officiating.

Remains will be placed at Catchall Masonic Lodge at 10 a.m. to be viewed until time of service.

The procession will leave the residence at 10.20 a.m.

Interment will be at Rafting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 3860 SC 261 North, Rembert.
